Appointment Types Guide
Create the services people can book with you — and control exactly how.
Overview
An appointment type is a service people can book with you — a quick chat, a strategy session, a class. Each one has its own length, price, location, and rules, and gets its own link on your public booking page. Create and manage them from the Appointment Types page in the sidebar.
The basics
- Name — the title bookers see, e.g. “Quick Chat” or “Strategy Session.”
- URL slug — the end of the booking link (e.g.
/book/you/quick-chat). It's generated from the name, and you can edit it. - Description — what the appointment is about. The first part shows on the booking page, with the rest behind “Read more.”
Duration & appearance
- Duration(s) — offer a single length or several (15m, 30m, 45m, 1h, 1h 30m, 2h, 2h 30m, 3h). Need something else? Choose Custom and enter any length from 5 minutes to 24 hours — add as many custom lengths as you like. If you offer more than one, bookers choose their preferred length when booking, and each length gets its own price.
- Color — pick from the preset palette or a custom color. It's used on your booking page and calendar events.
- Photos — add a featured image plus an optional gallery (up to 10 images) to show off the service.
Location
Choose where the appointment happens:
- No location — nothing specified.
- Online meeting — a video call. If your Zoom account is connected you can turn on Auto-create Zoom meeting to generate a unique link per booking (see the Zoom guide), or paste your own meeting link and instructions.
- In-person address — a physical address shown to bookers.
- Online or In-person — offer both and let the booker pick at booking time.
Intake questions
Collect what you need before the appointment by adding custom questions — short text, long text, dropdowns, checkboxes, multiple choice, file uploads, or a plain text block for instructions. Mark each one required or optional, and reorder them as you like.
Scheduling rules
- Buffer before / after — reserve time around each appointment so you're not booked back-to-back.
- Booking window — how far ahead people can book (in days).
- Minimum notice — how close to the start time someone can still book (in hours).
- Max bookings per day — an optional cap on how many of this appointment you'll take in a day.
These rules fine-tune the open times that come from your availability and connected calendars.
Pricing & series
Connect a payment provider to charge for an appointment — a fixed price per duration or a sliding scale. You can also sell an appointment as a multi-session series. See the Taking payments guide for the full walkthrough.
Reminders & options
By default an appointment type uses your account-wide reminder settings; you can override them here for just this one. A few extra options:
- Require phone number from booker.
- Require approval before confirming — requests stay pending until you approve them, with an optional auto-deny window for unanswered requests.
- Allow bookers to reschedule their confirmed time.
- Active — when off, the appointment type is hidden from your booking page.
How many you can create
The number of active appointment types depends on your plan:
- Free — 1
- Starter — 3
- Pro — 7
- Expert — 42
The Appointment Types page shows how many you've used; see pricing to compare plans.
